Your Daily Dose of "WTF?"...

The internet is an amazing place.

Not only can you find a site catering to just about any interest, but it has now become such a pervasive medium that athletes and celebrities are regularly leveraging it's awesome power in ways that are usually more or less brilliant revenue generators.

And here I am blogging for free.

What can you do?

Anyways, yesterday the internets were quite a boon for me, as a lowly Steelers blogger.

So as a result, I have several interesting tidbits to share with you this morning...beginning with Jeff Reed...because, why not?

ITEM #1...
If you want a glimpse of the Super Bowl XLIII ring up close, check out Jeff Reed on Fox Charlotte's "Got Game" segment. This is the same segment in which he relates that when the Steelers went to the White House to meet Obama, he forgot he was a team captain...which should surprise no one.

And if you just can't get enough of Jeff Reed, and I know you can't, in clip 2 he talks about watching the Pens win the cup, the pressure of being an NFL kicker, and he reveals his stylish new haircut.

Thankfully for everyone at Fox Charlotte, it appears their bathroom was chock full of paper towels.

Otherwise, shit could've gotten real ugly.

Moving on...

ITEM #2...
Earlier in the week, thanks to The Pensblog, I thought I had found a new ringtone...

I'd give you the High Quality version of that, but we all know it doesn't exist.

But that was until Mikey from the Kiss 96.1 Freakshow alerted me to this set of magical ringtones from Super Bowl MVP and erstwhile "Pussy Monsta," Santonio Holmes.

Big PM has given us eight fantastic tones to choose from - including such gems as - "Gotta Score This Touchdown," "Hey Yo Homeboy," and "You Screening Your Calls Now?"

Conspicuously missing were "Because I Got High," "Smoke Two Joints," and "I Saw The Sign."

I'd say something else about this, but honestly, they're ringtones...I've got nothing.

ITEM #3...

Chuck Norris ain't got shit on Samurai Big Ben.

Also, notice the lack of helmet, there.

.../I'm a terrible Steelers fan

And lastly...

If OFTOT looked like this for you at any point yesterday, I apologize. I've mentioned blogger/blogspot's shortcomings before, but never has anything quite like the entire site showing up in italics happened.

...I'm so happy to be finally getting off this shithole.

Which reminds me - I'll be [tentatively] unveiling the "new" OFTOT tomorrow for Meeting People Is Easy. But, since I make it a point never to be like Anthony Smith, I can't guarantee that.

Until then, email me if you want in on MPIE, OR if you'd like to contribute to the "Cotter is broker than the City of Detroit and writes this thing for free" fund.

Yes, I do accept payment in mint milano cookies.

I can haz eight hours of sleep?

...not likely

AFC North Headline Of The Day...

The good people of Buffalo, NY need to get out more.

"Wows?"

Please.

If TO came to my hood, I'd be all like, "Yo son, you betta check yo bullshit at tha do' an rekignize!"

[Don't worry, I'm embarrassed for MYSELF right now]

I definitely wouldn't be standing there, mouth agape, like Megan Fox just stepped off the plane.

But I'd be lying to you if I told you I knew that was what happened...because I didn't even bother to read the story. I just saw an opportunity and seized on it.

That's how I do's it, Larry.

Anyways, I guess Marshawn Lynch wasn't doing his job. He wasn't enough of a distraction for the Bills to let TO go unnoticed. Better tender your resignation for that one, Marshawn. Because there's a new Sherrif in town.

The question that's got everyone all aflutter this morning is - Does this make sense for the Bills?

The question I have is - How does this NOT make sense for the Bills?

Look, I hate TO, you hate TO. But that doesn't mean he couldn't help the Bills.

The Bills have been a perrenial AFC East doormat. $6.5 million for one year is not that big of a deal given the potential value TO could bring. I've read that people doubt Trent Edwards. Well, I can't really say anything about Trent Edwards because I don't really know enough about him.

Bottom line - If something wasn't done, the Bills could have (and still might) very well become the NFL's first Canadian franchise.

So at least they're trying, I guess.

But what I really wanna know from TO is - How do the Ravens look now, you douchebag? Thanks for being a prima donna about everything. Having you in the AFC North would've sucked. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, tune yourself in to 2004.

So at this point, there's only one more thing that can be said about this...

I'm curious - since when did it become funny to use Hitler in your jokes?

No, seriously. When did it become funny to use Hitler in your jokes? Because if there was some kind of announcement, I guess I must have missed it.

The amazing part about that video is not that Hitler's the star, though. It's that there's almost four minutes of it.

Overkill? Perhaps, just a bit.

Clearly there is absolutely no proper transition I can make here. So you're just going to have to move on to the links now...

What you have to look forward to at a Pens practice - almost getting a puck to the gourd [PSaMP]

Joey Galloway visiting the Steelers? Sadly, my only question is - Can he pass a physical? [Post-Gazette]

Anthony Smith is now someone else's problem. The Green Bay Packers, in fact [Press-Gazette]

Ed Bouchette. Still hating on the Redskins one week later - "By now, anyone over the age of 25 should know how the Steelers operate...They are as predictable as the Redskins missing the playoffs." I love it [Post-Gazette]

So does The Big Lead [The Big Lead]

In the headline says it all department - "Steelers Won't Overpay for Harrison" [Beaver County Times]

The Steelers sign Conan O'Brien [Mondesi's House]

Looks like LaMarr Woodley will be throwing out the first pitch at the Altoona Curve's home opener [Altoona Mirror]

Steelers banners are apparently the new black [Post-Gazette]

Igor Olshansky. Now a Dallas Cowboy. I guess Dallas isn't messing around with it's Defense this season. Good for them [Associated Press]

And speaking of Facebook being your enemy and not your friend... [HHR]

Apparel of the day on Saturday = a Ron Francis Whalers jersey...

I didn't even know any of these existed anymore.

And finally, I feel like I should say something right now. I like to cast stones around here and everything, but at the end of the day, I'm the one who walks around his apartment at night wearing man-slippers.

What I'm trying to say is - Some bloggers out there like to pretend like they know something you don't.

Other bloggers know that at some point, each one of us will be a hypocrite. Possibly some 8000 points, even.

And then there are bloggers who know that they write a blog.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep things in perspective.

That is all at this time.

AFC North Headline Of The Day...

Boy, it just keeps getting better and better, does it not?

All I can say about this is - asphinctersayswhat?

Now, the caveat is, this is from some Broncos blog, or at least what appears to be some Broncos blog, and we all know what that means. Credibility = that of Chris Mortenson.

So I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Still, that doesn't mean I can't write about it.

Could you imagine if this actually happened? After all the heralding of native son Brady Quinn in Cleveland. I would have an absolute field day.

But let's say this did happen - eff that, man. I do NOT want Jay Cutler in the AFC North. He may be a whiny little bitch, but that whiny little bitch can throw some rocks.

Of course, let's be honest - Brady Quinn, Shaun Rogers AND a 3rd round pick? Not like I'd put it past Cleveland to make such a retarded deal, but doesn't that seem just a little bit lopsided to you?

True, Lady Quinn is still a question mark. But Shaun Rogers just made the pro bowl and a 3rd round pick is pretty damn valuable when you're talking about the bottom feeding Gowns (who pick 5th).

Nice try, Broncosfreaks.com, but I'm willing to bet even the Browns are too smart for that one.

Besides, Brady Quinn would never go for it. There aren't enough gay studs in Colorado.

Either way, I need a friggin' nap.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Ohio, apparently epic failure Rex Grossman is visiting the Bangles...

I guess now with Harvard bomber Ryan Fitzpatrick gone to the arctic plains of Buffalo, and Carson Palmer still as fragile and dainty as Calista Flockhart, Grossman figures this could be a backup job with the significant prospect of actually getting on the field again someday. Meanwhile, no one knows what happened to Carson Palmer's brother. Rumor has it that no one cares either.

Aren't you glad you're a Steeler fan?

I'm hitting the links today (no I'm not)...

Steigerwald interviews Errey back in the day. Little did they know it would eventually all come full circle [PSaMP]

Pat White would love to be a Steeler. Interesting [NFL.com]

Wow, Bob Pompeani is kind of a dick (just read some of his loaded questions) [KDKA]

Who's messin with Franco's Wikipedia page? Am I gonna have to choke a bitch? [The Big Lead]

Ravens cooling off on Marvel Smith? I didn't know they were ever hot on him? [Baltimore Sun]

As the time passes, is McFadden more likely to re-sign? [BTSC]

You win a Super Bowl, everyone lines up to cup your balls. It's a rule. Today it's Pete Prisco [CBS Sportsline]

Heinz immortalizes the Steelers 6th Super Bowl title. What took you so long? [Trib]

HB's open letter to Jay Cutler [Tirico Suave]

Dig this headline -- "Seattlezadeh; Coles to Jet to Cincy." Gee, somebody's clever. I guess they spent all the money they would have paid a GM on someone to come up with dynamite headlines like that? [Bengals.com]

And then, there's Peter King's opinion...if you care [SI.com]

Speaking of the Bengals and stuff that sucks - Cedric Benson stays with the orange and black [Associated Press]

Looks like Rex Ryan's taking a page out of ol' Ken Whisenhunt's book - poaching off his former team like there's no tomorrow [Fox Sports]

Are patdowns at football games going to become illegal? Dammit. How else am I supposed to cop a cheap feel? Oh, and is it just me or didn't the 49ers stop playing at Candlestick park like several years ago? [WSJ Law Blog]

Everybody Loves Ray Romano. No love left for Ray Lewis [Shutdown Corner]

Edgerrin James wants to be released...presumably so he can be properly put out to pasture? Seriously, would YOU want Edgerrin James right now? [ESPN]

See, Some Things Never Change...

"They [the Patriots] cheated, there should be an asterisk. They cheated and they got caught..."
- Joey Porter
I'm sure it comes as no surprise to any of us that J Peezy has an opinion on Spygate. Nor is it particularly surprising that he's incensed by it. Or maybe I'm just crazy. Either way, our former shit talker linebacker extraordinaire has indeed weighed in on that which OFTOT wishes would just die in a fire - yes, I mean Spygate.

I don't think anything really needs to be said about this except, as Domski articulated via text message at approximately 12:55 AM Saturday morning - Sounds like "someone else's problem."

Peezy, we love you. Keep ranting, man. I hear Bill Parcells loves that kind of behavior. In fact, he probably would NOT discipline you at all. Definitely no kind of fine and/or series of suicide drills until you cry...err...

There is one thing Peezy and OFTOT agree on though - Where's the asterisk?

Making The Monday Rounds...

Another Monday means one week closer to opening day.

Step links for Steelers news....

Over the weekend Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was the commencement speaker for this year's graduating class at St. Vincent College. This makes me so jealous not only because terrible towels were twirling during a commencement ceremony, but my commencement speaker was the Senator of Delaware, Joe Biden. Biden was so terrible that he was booed at various points during his speech. I will forever hate that guy.

Woodley and Timmons must have been reading One For The Other Thumb. Its time to step up big time this year gentlemen.

The Sporting News' power rankings have the Steelers at #7 and the Browns at #9. Obviously they didn't hear that the Browns signed Shaun Rogers and Donte' Stallworth......CHAMPIONSHIP!

Santonio Holmes is ranked number five for wide receivers under the age of 25 by Sporting News. My homeboy Santonio is about to break out big time in 2008, don't forget that Santonio has been known to choke a bitch.

Brian Baldinger and his extremely freaky pinky finger reports from Steelers mini-camp. The video features Hines Ward (wearing one of those leather throw back helmets) as well as Fast Willie, Rashard Mendenhall, Limas Sweed, and a look through the Steelers trophy collection.

James Farrior will wear the new radio communication receiver in his helmet, which means he will be the only one on the defense with that silly green dot on his helmet.

Willie McGinest will not be there to see Brady Quinn take over the NFL.

$10,000 Big Ben bobblehead...not kidding

Ravens are fighting each other.

Bowen, this link is for you.

Bury me in this!
