Something's AFoote On The South Side...

Or perhaps more appropriately - Something's AHaggans...get it...you know, like Larry Foote, but only Clark Haggans...alright, forget it.

Anyways, I just want to make one quick observation and then step aside and open things up to you guys...and that is -- What is Clark Haggans still doing in town?

I heard last week that Cleveland was trying to line up a visit. But besides that, I haven't heard shit about him or his status as an unrestricted free agent. Might the Steelers be talking to his representation about a compromised new contract? I don't see how we could, given our current cap sitch. But I'm still trying to get to the bottom of all this...I thought he'd have been long gone by now...

Oh, and the Steelers will allegedly be meeting with a backup safety/special teams ace "this week." So we've got that goin' for us too...I guess...

Now that we've exchanged pleasantries, what I really want to know is - draft. Who will the Steelers pick? What you got? Let's get the conversation started.

PS - See you in LA bitches! Tomorrow's the day.

UPDATE: Methinks this Keyaron Fox signing may speed up the process a bit...

Ballhype: hype it up!

Cotter, I'm not sure why Haggans is still around, but hopefully Timmons can show up this year to solidify the linebacking group.

Everyone knows the steelers need o-line help, but there are other areas that need addressed. I'm really hoping for a defensive end that can add true depth behind kiesel and smith. Nosetackle is solid with hampton and hoke. A cornerback could be in the cards, but he will need to be versatile to play both special teams and make an impact on the field if teams spread the steelers out with 4/5 wr sets. I really like Hardy, the wr out of Indiana. He could be impact player from day one. I also heard him interviewed on Sirius NFL radio, and he would like to be on the steelers (seems like a good fit for all).

With all the o-line talk going on here on these interwebs I feel steelers fans need to keep in mind that its not likely that more than one of the o-line draft picks this year will become a starter week 1. They are going to have to ride with Simmons, Marvel, and company. I have my fingers crossed that Kemeotu (sp?) shows up large this year (and keeps his anger in check)

I guess Haggans just can't let go. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think the Steelers have expressed interest in resigning him. They signed a linebacker today with basically the same size dimensions as Clark, I'm not sure about the skill level though. I don't think there is going to be a rookie on the starting O-line. Who knows? Maybe they'll even wait until the 2nd round for a lineman. I'd really like to see them get a good center if there are any out there. Maybe Sullivan from Notre Dame. Mahan is a big disappointment.

Good Lord - I don't even know what to make about all this. If they start sucking it might answer the question about just how much input Cowher had in the player signing/acquisition department!

...Meanwhile... Cleve Brownies are signing talent - established talent - as if it's going out of style.
