I'm surprised, given his short yardage success last year. Haven't been able to pick up 3rd and one since the Bus retired. They must think they can find a power back in the draft.

The steelers picked up that darren sproles(esque) running back/kick returner from the CFL. So now they have Parker, Moore, Mendenhall, and this other little guy. Gary Russell was just the odd man out. He barely made the roster to start the season, but made some big contributions on the march to the super bowl.

Hopefully the steelers pick up at least one day 1 starter on the offensive line to improve the short yardage running game. I dont think the short yardage issues are as much the running backs faults rather the inability of the offensive line to open holes for them to run through.

I look for Mendenhall to fill Russell's role until he proves he can be just as or more effective than parker/moore.

I just hope Moore doesn't get lost in the shuffle w/ all these RBs...love that dude.

matt - agreed, moore was a monster last season.

The Steelers backfield is stacked with talent. The healthy competition between parker, moore, and mendenhall will only make the steelers running game better. (It wouldn't hurt to get a beast offensive lineman to hold their blocks for one second longer for these homerun threats to run through).

i'm repeating myself, sorry just really really really want the steelers to get a beast o-lineman.
