Wake Up Dicks, We Got A Game to Play...

"I'll tell you what, if you can find someone in this locker room to tell you they want to take a break, come tell me. Come tell me."
- Alan Faneca

"On top of that, it's Baltimore. That's one of our biggest rivals. They had a lot of comments they said after the first game that didn't sit too well with a lot of guys in this locker room."
- James Farrior

"I don't care for them much. There are some guys on that team I just don't like and they don't like me. It works good in that environment."
- Max Starks
The Patriots are undefeated. Might as well concede the playoffs...

I mean, we have a game against the Ravens today...let's chat.

Ballhype: hype it up!

Quick, to the bar...

These two girls that used to go to college w my older sister somehow got tix to the game and told me that they're making massive signs with my site url. Here's hoping Baltimore fans are as bitchy as Patriots fans.

tecmo said...

oh, Willie...

Cotter said...

Well, so far Willie Reid is the hero...oh wait.

PS - tec - that's f'ing awesome. Ill be looking for the sign!

Cotter said...

Tec - you should just write a post shitting on pats fans and send it to deadspin then we can talk some more shit.

tecmo said...

that was tons of fun...

Cotter said...

Wow, 4th and 1 and you throw to wilson?

That's smart.

Cotter said...

Apparently this is the Phil Simms Ravens suck fest.

I hate Phil Simms.

tecmo said...

Personal foul...unnecesary awesomeness...#92.

fixed.

I hate Ohio State

domski43 said...

steelers #1 d..........i'm convinced that labeau is holding back some blitz packages for the playoffs, but our vanilla d is still looking like garbage

Anonymous said...

WTF was with that "unecessary roughness" crap??

S'up gang?

domski43 said...

this game is borderline unwatchable

domski43 said...

oak tied with sd

Anonymous said...

So, Simms *played* with Stover at the Giants in '90...that explains why he loves the effing Ravines so much.

I too hate Simms. He's a nut-sucking Steelerhater.

domski43 said...

cotter, you should change your picture. we all know you don't drink.

ps: you owe everyone a beer bong.

domski43 said...

a natty bo beer bong

tecmo said...

and Willie's career as a returner is finished

domski43 said...

let charlie batch return kicks

Anonymous said...

Hoke got shoved down from behind on that first-down run by T. Smith. I guess that's legal against a Steeler...

Hard to believe we actually *won* a challenge...Willie Reid: yet another draft bust at WR/KR

domski43 said...

wow! davenport got tackled by running into our o-line....my confidence is growing by the second that he can carry the playoff load........jesus

Anonymous said...

Mahan is a scrub....

Anonymous said...

Where's Gary Russel?

BTW- Does it really make a difference whether we get the third- or fourth-seed? Only if we end up playing San Diego, right?

I'm a little confused here...

Cotter said...

Domski - a. Natty bo beer bongs are against Cotter's rules. But I told you I'm all for it otherwise.

As for this game- we have a chance to get the 3 seed, albeit slim, a chance nonetheless. Play to win.

tecmo said...

Oh. My. God.

domski43 said...

sd and oakland still tied at 7...steelers are shitting on it.

our defense is looking terrible..i've never seen so many arm tackles...its time to go back to basics and work on wrapping up before jones-drew and taylor rip us up again

Cotter said...

If you can't stop the ravens #3 back how are you gonna stop fred taylor and maurice jones-drew?

Anthony Smith, Sandman:

"Sandman", because he's asleep in the defensive backfield, and/or because he moves like he's running in sand.

Either or.

Not exactly an encouraging outting so far...

domski43 said...

willie reid looking like a scared puppy on the return

Anonymous said...

Mahan getting eaten alive.

Anonymous said...

Wow....ANOTHER call in our favor?!

Not sure i like that. Rather have the calls in the post-season. Hope this doesn't ruin our percentages.

Simms wants to blow the whole Rvens defense from the sounds of it...

domski43 said...

davenport is definately not convincing as a goal line back

domski43 said...

please keep in mind the ravens lost to miami

Cotter said...

That's a start.

But can we play defense?

Anonymous said...

First rushing TD against Balti since Amos Zeroue? Holy shit...

We need about four more of those to please my anxiety-ridden mind.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't really matter, though. The Patriots are already the Greatest Team Ever That Ever Was or Ever Will Be Ever.

Might as well Crown Their Asses...

domski43 said...

was harrison shook up on the 1st down play?

domski43 said...

still 7-7 in oakland

Anonymous said...

I like Charlie to get hot in the second half though. He's been on the pine for a long time. Needs a while to get into it. He could score on this drive too.

If Mahan can stop getting chewed up in the middle...

domski43 said...

fight just broke out in washington/dallas game....way more interesting than charlie batch

Cotter said...

Let's get something going for christs sake.

domski43 said...

its brian st pierre time!!!!

tecmo said...

Simms just said Woodley got his first career sack. If by first, he meant 4th..than he was dead on.

Anonymous said...

Woodley's pretty quick for a big boy.

Silverback is hurt...

Yup- it's St. Pierre time. Way to make a fol of me Charlie!

Anonymous said...

Simms is dumber than a box of rocks. I wish he'd get a case of sudden inexplicable laryngitis.

tecmo said...

Ike Taylor is the most uncoordinated CB of all time.

domski43 said...

sit ike taylor in front of a jugs machine for a few hours a day

Cotter said...

Fuck Phil Simms, let's win this game!!!!!

domski43 said...

harrison and kiesel taking a ride

14-7 bolts

domski43 said...

steelers need to practice recovering a fumble/loose ball this week...no aggressiveness

Cotter said...

You know what guys, nothing has changed from friday - the Chargers are still going to beat Oakland, and we are getting the 4 seed. Let's just accept it and let this game play out...

Uh, yeah...

domski43 said...

i wish we had todd collins

domski43 said...

bring on the jags!!!

Cotter said...

Yep, learn how to stop the run before next week, that'd be nice.

domski43 said...

nice hit/gang tackle on the fumble, but mason should not be able to have that much room on a long third down

domski43 said...

its time to put together a drive..lets open some running lanes

Anonymous said...

Haggans actually DID something! Huh.

Still, be nice if we could actually score another TD. At least keep it interesting, sorta...

Anonymous said...

Why won't Davenport just put his shoulders down and bull-rush the holes he gets instead of trying to fancu-foot for big plays?

Where's the swing-pass and screen?

Are we trying to lose this game?

Don't make me find you after the game, Arians!

domski43 said...

davenport needs to stick to a north south running style like this blog has been saying all year. he needs to keep his shoulder pads horizontal and stop trying to bounce around. see the hole and hit it.

seriously, take batch out, he is doing nothing positive for our offense

Anonymous said...

Same could be said for Davenport. I agree with Cotter about seeing whay Russel can do. At least get Verron a few touches. I have some faith in him...

Get St P in there. He can't do much worse than Charlie is tonight...

Cotter said...

I'm 100 percent for St. Pierre. Guys - we r in the playoffs, the Ravens are not. Bottom line.

domski43 said...

is our defense serious??? i hope this is a joke and we are playing like this to play some type of psychological trick on the jaguars

Anonymous said...

Sandman was sleeping yet again...

Cotter said...

Yeah I hear that, its still embarrassing, meaningless or not.

On second thought let Charlie play it out. This game isn't gonna change anything. Balti's defense is really fairly good, especially up front. It'll be good for Batch to get some real-worl reps going into the post-season. Same for our other backups.

I wasn't really counting on this game much anyways. It might have been a mistake to play the starting defense so much, or at all. If we'd started out w/backups nobody woulda expected anything. As it is our starters might be frustrated, although they should be.

As long as we don't suffer any serious injuries we'll be OK. If anything a bad showing today will remind them that they need to play hard, practice hard, and try a hella lot harder in the next few weeks. A loss won't allow any false sense of superiority.

So- put in more of the backups. All around. Get them ready for the next few weeks. They'll need it.

Anonymous said...

Wish i could be more positive, but i'm not really expecting much from this team in the playoffs.

I'm Black-n-Gold til i die, but truth is truth.

The Steelers have issues.

Anonymous said...

I hope to god i'm wrong, though.

Cotter said...

Dude, we are all thinking it, don't apologize.

tecmo said...

I'm lost as to why the announcers keep saying Charlie has played a great game. Most of his passes were horizontal, and the biggest play was due to San Antonio breaking a tackle. Now, he hasn;t been God-awful, but i wouldn;t be ridiculously comfortable if I saw him behind center in the playoffs.

Anonymous said...

Well, at least we had a nice 14 point turnaround late. Doesn't look like we'll get another posession, but i'm glad Charlie got hot for me in the fourth. A shame he couldn't put it together in the 3d.

I missed it- what happened that Tomlin challenged that last touchback??

tecmo said...

he thought dude caught ball in bounds then ran back into the endzone, which woulda been a safety.

Now, can Charlie win it with a buck fitty and no timeouts?

tecmo said...

...and an entire field

Anonymous said...

OMFG.

Why, oh why didn't Charlie pull it down and run? He had a twenty-yarfer in front of him, and out-of-bounds.

It would have been an easy couple throws for the TD....

Oh well. I'm happy with the late push. It was good for everybody on the team. Not as good as a win, but still better than the misery of the first three quarters.

That game never should have gone that way, IMHO. But i guess the coaches wanted to stay fairly vanilla for Jax.

And i DO think we can, in fact WILL, beat the Jags next week. It's the divisional round that scares me...

Happy New Year gang. Be safe!

I'm out...

did anyone notice the protection batch got for much of the game. no sacks.
