J-E-F-F, Jeff Jeff Jeff...

Uh oh, bad news for seemingly rejuvenated Philadelphia Eagles QB Jeff Garcia -- The Eagles have reached an agreement with Eagle "veteran" AJ Feeley to extend his contract for another three years. This move comes after Garcia, understandably non-committal, asked for a five day grace period "at the outset of unrestricted free agency" to shop himself around before potentially resigning with the Eagles.

So a deft move by Garcia has non-officially answered the question - "Will Jeff Garcia be on the Eagles sidelines next season?" Of course this doesn't mean that there is NO chance Garcia will be back with the Eagles, but it's doubtful. As reported by ESPN.com, Garcia probably only would've spent one more season with Philadelphia anyways, at 37 years of age.

A smart move by the Eagles? In theory yes. But honestly, do any of us really think AJ Feeley has much to offer at QB? He had a few good games a few years ago in relief of an oft-injured Donovan McNabb, then a miserably failed attempt at starting in Miami, only to come (metaphorically) sulking back to the Eagles with his tail between his legs.

I think the Eagles if they know what's good for them they will still work to re-sign Jeff Garcia even if only for one more year. McNabb's injury this past season was pretty serious. Probably more serious than any of his previous ailments. It would seem to me that there's a good chance McNabb may not play the whole season next year, and having a guy who is proven to be a fit for the system might help them make another run at the playoffs.

But hey, maybe the Eagles don't want to make the playoffs? After all, it is Philadelphia, and if I know one thing having grown up outside the city, it's that Philly sports teams make some of the dumbest personnel decisions in the history of sports.

Which brings me to another point - who did the Sixers get for Iverson again? Honestly, someone needs to sit the Philly teams front offices down and either smack the crap out of them or give them a full tutorial on how NOT to make player deals.
