JoePa told the Associated Press yesterday he doesn't think that a renewal of the Pitt - Penn State Rivalry that thrived for years makes any sense given today's "modern" schedule.
Quoth the legendary Coach -
"We're not sure exactly how many games we can play out of the Big Ten," Paterno said. "Financially, we have to have seven home games. If Pitt would say tomorrow, 'We'll go twice up to your place if you come once down here...' The last time we came to Pitt, they charged more money for our game than any other game."Whatever that all means...
Though he did say it wasn't for lack of interest, as he'd love to see a modern interstate rivalry. It's just that given their strict in conference scheduling, there's really not much room for anything else.
Good news is - Big 33 is going strong and PA continues to remind OH how much of a bastard state it is...
