What Would The Colts Do?

So I read the blog "Stampede Blue" (a Colts blog) this morning, because one of their most recent posts titled, "Tossing Shoes: those Sissy Steelers", caught my eye (I can't imagine why). I must say, boy was I surprised by how overzealous this "BigBlueShoe" character is who authored the piece.

I'll try to give this guy the benefit of the doubt (not really though), but his basic argument is that the Steelers need to adopt a pass happy offense to have any success in the modern NFL. In fact, over the course of making his point he even goes so far as to say that Big Ben Roethlisberger, the youngest QB to win a Super Bowl and our personal version of Superman, is too STUPID to run "a no huddle offense and call his own plays"!

Wow, my mind is blown...who knew? I mean Peyton Manning is just so much better than everyone else that he had to finally rely on the run to win a Super Bowl. But the Steelers should pass more...That's the future...Every team that's won a championship since 2000 has been a pass first offense...

Think about it - Baltimore, Tampa Bay, New England, PITTSBURGH

And let's face it, Colts fans are just smarter too...god, how can we be more like Indianapolis?

** In case you're completely dense - I'm being uber-sarcastic here...

Honestly though, the guy contradicts himself by saying that the Colts won in the playoffs last year by favoring the run over the pass, so the whole post is pretty much moot. Still, I'd welcome any and all Steeler fans to see for themselves (click link above).

The Colts have had a high power offense, via passing, for awhile now. But, what allowed them to win the Super Bowl this year is because of their ability to play defense. Just to jog a few minds...the Colts' defense was getting run on all year until they were able to magically stop someone in the playoffs...thanks to Erie PA's own Bob Sanders. The Colts and Steelers' Super Bowl runs have one thing in common...morphing into a different team in the playoffs. The Steelers went from pound the rock and be efficient on third down during the regular season and then shocked teams by throwing on them during the playoffs. Last year every team was running the ball at will on the Colts until they put up a brick wall in the playoffs. Both teams threw these wrinkles at their opponents and took them right out of their game plans. Both teams have been great for awhile and deserved a Super Bowl..lets leave it at that.

You must have been singing Kumbaya while writing this, am I right?

I see the point, but to say that Steeler football isn't the way to win in today's NFL might have been taking it a step too far. Extrapolating situational football to infer about a greater trend will never produce credible results.

Willie Parker running the stretch play consistently?? Big Ben calling his own plays?? We'll see...i'll love it if it works..hate it if it doesn't. What about brunch?
