Who's It Gonna Be At Number 23?...

Could be a Lineman
Could be a D-back
Could be a Safety
Am I on the right track

Whoever it is
We fans will do as we must
And embrace he who is worthy
In Kevin Colbert we trust

Alright friends. It's 3 PM, do you know who your team will be drafting?

Domski has already proposed that we execute a blockbuster trade sending Big Ben and Troy Polamalu to Cleveland in exchange for Brady Quinn. So on that note - let's commence draft day discussion...

As long as Owen Schmitt is in Black-nGold at the end i'll be satisfied.

s'up yo?

PS - 10 bucks says the Dolphins pick Jake Long #1, any takers?

Cotter said...

Tobiathan! Welcome dude. I trust you've studied potential picks wisely...

Anonymous said...

I tend to agree, but they might look to the other Long shot...a good OL is a must-have, and they need everything. They already have some defense, so i look to the offense to get the #1.

Or, of course, a trade...

Anonymous said...

LOL...i nailed it!

Cotter said...

Yeah man, I was just kidding though - they signed Jake Long on like Tuesday.

Anonymous said...

Doh- i got my Long's confused....i though Cotter was saying Howie's boy....derr

Anonymous said...

I haven't been watching the news. I really was guessing. Now i'm embarrassed...

Think Chris Long will be a Raider like dad? They're in position, aren't they?

Cotter said...

Poss. They're at #4. But I dunno. The Rams might take him. Even if they don't, I think Oakland might go for McFadden.

Naw, haven't really been studying. I've been getting into knifemaking a lot lately. Been absorbed by whipping out some sweet tactical-style folders and auto's.

Good to be back on OFTOT for a day or two tho!

How goes yer legal education? Know anything about patent law? I might have an idea for a new kinda army-guy knife-type thinngee...

I hope Pittsburgh oes trade down. I'm not impressed with these options in the first round...

Cotter said...

Haven't gotten into patent law yet, but if any of those knives fall into the wrong hands I might know a few things about liability...or lack thereof...

I wouldn't mind if they traded down so long as it was to an early 2nd round pick.

Anonymous said...

Chris Long will be another HOFer. I woulda been OK if we'd traded up for him...

Damned double-posters...lol.

Well, if you get into patent law mebbe we can make a couple million with my super-creative artsy-fartsymind and tactical-needs knowledge...lol

Who just took Matt Ryan? Atlanta? A little higher than i expected...

Cotter said...

Yeah, I mean I'm sure he's good. I just don't know if he's as good as they're saying (Manning-esque).

Anonymous said...

As i think about it, i don't think we need much on offense. Honestly, with a decent 2nd RB our O-line might look a helluva lot better. If we can get Shmitt i say spend one more on an OL abnd go DL the rest of the way..

Honestly, i think Owen Shmitt would be a good pick at 1.23. I know people will argue, but he CAN block, and run, and catch, and tackle, play TE/FB/HB/ST. 'The guy would add a whole new dimension to the offense and take a lot of heat off the O-line and Willie P.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Matt Ryan really seems like a reach at #3

Anonymous said...

I'm surprised by the McFadden pick...

Cotter said...

I'm surprised by the Glenn Dorsey pick!

I mean I guess you kind of have to take him since he's there, but I feel like the Chiefs have bigger needs.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, their D-line is pretty solid. I guess when a guy that highly-ranked is still available you gotta jump.

Seems like he might be the injury-ridden type though..

Cotter said...

Who knows man.

Dude if the Jets take Branden Albert, how disgusting will that O-Line be?

Anonymous said...

Well, only seventeen or so picks left for Albert to hang around, huh? lol

Cotter said...

Yeah, right?

Evil empire is up. They should prob take a QB, right?

Anonymous said...

Lol..yeah, they need one.

I can't believe these assholes got to keep such a high pick. And they're in the weakest division in the league.

I hates them fcukers.

Grr.

Cotter said...

Ravens trading down?

Domski - Flacco!

domski43 said...

jags are going to get albert?

Cotter said...

Derrick Harvey? They needed to trade up to #8 to get Derrick Harvey???

domski43 said...

the jags made our o-line look like swiss cheese last year...now they have harvey

domski43 said...

bengals address the linebacker situation...look for the steelers to trade their 1st round pick for chad johnson

Cotter said...

Wow, those Bungles fans sure seemed excited about drafting Rivers...uh...not

domski43 said...

bengals fans look like they took too prozac

Anonymous said...

I hate to see any player get stuck in Cinci-cinnamon-chili-atti...

Poor Keith Rivers

domski43 said...

prediction....cromartie to pats after losing samuel

Anonymous said...

Doms, you're kidding about Johnson bein' traded here, right?

I can't see him surviving in the 'Burgh. Too high-maintenence.

Anonymous said...

As Albert fals lower the chances get better we might trade up for him, eh?

domski43 said...

mayo makes sense...pats need linebackers that are younger than 45

domski43 said...

tobiathan i'm just f-in around about johnson...but honestly i would celebrate if it happened (probably buy a jersey just like every other douche out there)

sssshhhh about albert....we dont want to jinx it!

Cotter said...

We won't trade up, but maybe he'll fall...not likely though.

Will Bills go D?

Cotter said...

10 bucks says Broncos take Rashard Mendenhall.

domski43 said...

i'll take that bet

Anonymous said...

I'm getting out of the small range of knowledge i had about potential draft pix.

I figured Doms was kidding about CJ. I'd rather have Houshmanzilly personally, but yaeh: i don't see any of that goin' down.

Bound to be at least one good trade tho...

Cotter said...

Way off on that one. Clady, good call.

domski43 said...

you better give me 10 bucks jewbag

Cotter said...

Yeah I'll be sure to do that next time I've got 10 dollars...expect it in 2011.

domski43 said...

mark it dude

Belicheat is being interviewed on NFLN.

Wow.

I bet no coach who admitted cheating would ever still be in the league during Rozelle or Tagliabue's admins...

I seriously think the NFL has jumped the shark and cares way more about dollars than the game.

Someone pass me a tissue....I've got some more cryin' to do..

Cotter said...

Now the big question is - will the Lions take another receiver?

Anonymous said...

And how the hell does a 16-0 team rate the weakest schedule in the league?!

Arrrgghh....

Anyway..i suspect defense and skill-positions are gonna run the next few picks..

Anonymous said...

KC's going crazy...

I hope Herm has a good draft. He's really under-rated as a coach IMHO..

And they take....aww, crap: there goes Albert. So much for my prognostication.

Anonymous said...

Eight more to go...

Cotter said...

Pittsburgh West on the clock. Who will the Whiz pick?

Cotter said...

Kenny Philips anyone?

Cotter said...

Kentwan Balmer?

Cotter said...

Rashard Mendenhall?

Cotter said...

Secured!

Excellent pick. Guess I can go take a nap now...

Anonymous said...

Mendenhall!!!!

Whoda thunkit? I never thought that guy would fall so low. And there is no such thing as too(two?) many starter-quality RBs. I was kinda expecting DL or OL, but both those positions were hit hard early on and this seemed like a no-brainer. You can always get good linemen in the lower rounds.

This is the most exciting 1st-rounder since Troy...or Ben, i reckon. Nice pick, anyway.

Whatcha yinz thinking?

domski43 said...

lovin mendenhall...never thought he would drop to us

this will allow willie a longer career....we now have a one two punch

the running game did not suffer last year...willie was leading the league in rushing when he went down....

mendenhall will make an impact immediately!!!

good call colbert! you da man

Anonymous said...

But the running game DID suffer last year: although Willie led the league most of the year our running game consistently failed without him. At no point were we able to present a realistic threat without Fast willie on the field. Davenport regularly fell down on first contact, tried far too often to outmanuever faster, more agile defensive players and routinely refused to lower that big shoulder and hit anybody. Not to mention how often our backup RBs et al missed pass-pro blocks and assignments.

I genuinely blame the lack of production by any other back besides FWP for fully half our O-line issues as opponentskeyed on Willie and Ben to great effect.

Hopefully the new kid will add another dimension...

domski43 said...

not a lot of wear and tear on mendenhall....only received the bulk of his carries last year @ illinois

tobiathan...would your head explode if they got owen schmitt to break facemasks for the new one/two monster running game?

domski43 said...

limas sweed!!!! big ben gets his wish! this guy was "supposed to" go in the first round.

still uncomfortable about the o-line and d-line, but more weapons for big ben....bottom line...trust kevin colbert

Cotter said...

Yep, I'll take Offensive firepower like that every day of the week. Two rounds, two steals. Keep it rollin' Colbert!

domski43 said...

is anybody still wondering why the steelers resigned max starks???

obviously the steelers went into day one with the plan to draft the best talent available...and it worked!!!

in the back of my mind i'm still worried about the o-line and defense, but another running back and wide receiver were needs as well (for depth purposes). I believe both limas and rashard will make immediate impacts on the field for the steelers in '08.

Kendall Simmons was the last o-lineman drafted by the steelers in the first round. So, lets stay patient and tomorrow the steelers will address the o-line and defense. Colbert will find a few gems for the steelers tomorrow.

Great draft. They got lucky. Big Time.

Should be a lot of fun to watch ... unless you're Najeh Davenport.
