Mother Nature wasn't the only one making it rain this past Sunday evening. Newly anointed Steelers Offensive Coordinator Bruce Arians was also doing his best to contribute to the embarrassment of the Saints. [Sidenote - yes I'm still talking about/excited about this] As I mentioned yesterday, and has been noted on every Steelers blog (et al), not only did the offense gain a total of over 300 yards on Sunday, but 200 of those were gained through the air! So while it was still a preseason game, and the first preseason game at that, it gives me a lot of faith in a "new" Steeler offense...using the term "new" loosely.
Not a ton to say today, but after reading some of the other stuff being written about our recent triumph and resulting news, I have a few more thoughts:
- Saints fans assessment of first drive = "
"McKenzie dove for the ball but wasn't close, it was pitch and catch for Roethlisberger... Shanle and Kaesviharn can't stop Davenport in the scrum on the touchdown run. The first drive saw the Saints secondary get beat all over the field in man coverage. It was ugly."
I ain't gonna fight you there. - Don't you worry about Max Starks (so we all hope) -- A man with many a question mark this year, Starks is apparently having a great camp, and is even battling for the backup left tackle job...Max, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I'm optimistic he can play a solid right tackle this season, but let's wait and see on the left tackle business. You think Starks is heir apparent to Alan Faneca?
- I hope Mondesi's House is planning on refuting all these "Why My Team Will Be Better Than The Steelers in 2007" posts...'cause I hate to see these opinions go unaddressed. Though I can't wait to read the Browns fans answer...providing he can find a Browns fan who has a computer and can use a keyboard well enough to put anything meaningful together...
And on to some other related bullshit, just for kicks:
- FoxSports ranks NFL team staffs 1-16 ~ Steelers not included, Eagles somehow #1 and the Lions made it on at #16...what's wrong with this picture?
- Pitt's top recruit magically disappears citing personal issues...like maybe he's thinking of defecting to Penn State?
- Brady "Sunshine" Quinn finally signed a 5-year deal...too bad Derek Anderson's going to be the starter for the Browns this year. Don't worry Brady, by the time you're ready to start, LeCharles Bentley will be long gone, Steinbach and Joe Thomas will have eloped and Kellen Winslow will still be an idiot. (No factual basis for any of this nor do I need any...sheer entertainment value boys...)
- Bed #945 at Miami General = Joey Porter...hate to say it, cause I really do love Joey deep down...let's just suffice it to say that the Steelers know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em and know when not to pay 'em upwards of $30 million dollars...almost as smart as drafting Ted Ginn Jr. with the 9th overall pick!
- Yep, Cris Collinsworth still Collinsworthless...
Cheers!
