Haggans Last Stand?

It looks like Polamalu re-upping his contract in advance of the '07 season has inspired Clark Haggans to follow suit and TRY to get himself a new deal, extending his tenure past just this coming season. Operative word being try...and actually all the article said was that he "hopes" he can get a deal done that would extend his stead in the 'Burgh.

I think we all understand where this will likely net out. There could be two scenarios:

1. Haggans agrees to receive less money than he might get elsewhere and compete with Lamar Woodley for his LOLB job next season.
OR

2. Haggans realizes that, like Joey Porter, he is not going to get a deal he will like from the Steelers and will exercise his right to depart as a free agent.
I think the 2nd scenario is probably the more likely result, but you never know. Some guys know a good thing when they see it. Could you imagine the depth chart if he did stay? Talk about valuable backups...

What do you all think - Haggans, Joey Porter or Jeff Hartings?

Haggans needs to be more productive. Are you at all worried about Harrison and Haggans as our OLBs?

They're saying Harrison will surprise some people...I can't feel 100% confident until I see them in action for myself, during a regular season game, but I think if it becomes a problem we have the solution: LaMar Woodley and/or Lawrence Timmons, maybe both?

they better grow up real fast...both will probably have to earn their stripes on special teams. We'll see which one is nastier.

Harrison has proven that he can play effectively at both inside and outside LB, but he needs to put together a complete season. Hopefully with a brand new shiny ring.

Harrison is a freak. We've only just begun to see what he can do. The guy is a stud -- trust me. Also, Woodley is an animal. He's gonna be better than Timmons for their entire careers (not to say that I think Timmons will suck, but Woodley is phenomenal).

Couldn't agree more. From what I hear, Woodley will be the star...how bout that for a second round steal with first round talent!

Either one has to step up large this year..whether on special teams or to spell a tired or injured player.
